Miley Cyrus Inspired Make-up?

Published November 1, 2015 by sarahsmith1988

I have not updated my blog for quite some time now, mainly due to the sweet little cherub I am carrying making things slightly harder and uncomfortable for me! This little bundle also has a habit of sapping all my energy from the moment I open my eyes in the morning! I have been trying to finding the energy for experimenting with some more make up! and I must say I am missing those evenings browsing the internet for ideas and gathering up collections and must have makeup buys to place on pinterest!!

However, last night I managed to pick up my phone and browse through some examples of makeup up from celebrity inspired. I didn’t intend to look for looks based on celebrities I just came across an article for a makeup tutorial based ona celebrity and thought I would search “Celebrity inspired makeup tutorials”

I now have a few to work with in the up coming future, but the one I particularly tried this morning was “Miley Cyrus” inspired.

Competed look

Why did I choose Miley?

Well, if you type in google “Miley Cyrus Makeup” and image search you will see that her makeup is very more on the natural side and is rather minimal, which is ideal for an every day to day look. As they say less is more! She uses a range of bronze’s and neutral colours. Her eyelashes, however are often bold and strong. But I must admit I love bold and exaggerated lashes, the more enhanced the better. For her lips, she does tend to wear bold red which looks amazing against her pale skin tone and in my opinion has a wonderful lip shape! Whatever her lip shade she does rock it!

I began with moisturizing my face and applying a face primer before mixing together a light foundation and b sweet popping candy highlighting serum. Mixed together with the foundation creates a lovely glow with a slight shimmer to the face, in my opinion it gives the face a different kind of youthful glow. I then used a slightly lighter colour of concealer under my eyes, on my nose, forehead and above the lip and blended well. I then took some translucent setting powder. This MUA setting powder and although it is a good product I would avoid it. It is highly messy and the product escapes from the pot round the edges.

Secondly I filled in my eyebrows with a light brown eye pencil, then going over the eyebrow with a eyebrow plumper gel. Once my eyebrows were filled I then applied eyeshadow primer onto my lids and blended. Selecting a shimmer colour that is close to my skin tone I applied all over my lids, but not above! Peachy colours, or champagne colours work well for light skin tones and gold bronze work well with dark skin tones.

Taking a black eye liner I applied it on the water line of my eye then taking a dark eyeshadow (I used black) and a eyeshadow brush I applied the eyeshadow as close to the lower lash line as possible. I did not wet the brush as I often do as I didn’t want a strong bold liner. I then took a liquid eyeliner in black and applied as close to the upper lash line.

To finish off the eye I used moodstruck fiber lash 3D mascara to create exaggerated lashes, I did take tweezers to my bottom lashes and gently twist them together to clump them a little to make them more bolder. Ideally I would use lash inserts to create a more dramatic effect.

For the lips I used a nude lip liner and applied stargazer lipstick in a pale pink shade and to complete the look I used a pale peachy/pink shade of blusher and applied to the apples of my cheek!

What is your favorite celebrity inspired makeup? and why? I would love to hear!

Vampy Fall

Published October 15, 2015 by sarahsmith1988

I am in love with the vampy style this fall, but I must say with my complexion and face shape I can not pull this off so well. I did however dug through the internet for some inspiration and jiggled up a number of video tutorial’s for some inspiration to create my own idea. Ideally I would of loved to of created my skin tone more paler and maybe applying the bronzer on a little darker to make the cheeks stand out and provide a more sharper detail, however I did not have the correct foundation in order to do this. So I created the foundation by mixing two foundations together. To create a different effect and shade to what I normally apply. product collage

After creating the base of eye shadow I then applied the cream colour from the contouring kit to highlight under the eyes, forehead, chin, upper lip and nose and blended well with a blending bud. I use the blending bud as I love the effect it creates when finished. The product looks more natural and can achieve a more even consistency of the product without streaks patches. I tend to use a dabbing motion rather then rubbing it in, it appears lighter and less of a caked on feel. Once highlighted I take the bronzer (MUA makeup artiste palette) and apply on my cheek bones, under the chin and down the sides of my nose, blending again with the blending bud.

product collage 3For the eyes I applied the white from the palette W7 up in smoke palette. in my opinion these shadows are not very highly pigmented and they do not last all day, they do however look much better applied wet rather then dry, but again, does not last all day. Once I am happy with the white base I then applied stargazer “copper” into the creases and applied more till I created my desired effect and density of colour. I love stargazer shadows and must warn you to use a little as they are highly pigmented, they also stay put all day and dont bundge which is great! You can apply both wet and dry and the shadow stays put. If you apply wet though it really does stand out more in terms of sparkle and shimmer. I have never had a bad word said about stargazer products! They also do a lot of gothic style shades, so perfect for this Fall fashion trends you can find their website here

At the moment they have a fantastic range of Halloween products and ideas you must check out if Halloween is your thing!

I then applied moodstruck precision eye liner “perfect” across the eye line and then took the “Pristine” shade and applied it into the inner corners of my eye and lower corner of tear duct and blended gently! I love the moodstruck precision pencil range both eye and lip liners due to their long lasting wearing. They apply very easily and smoothly, they are also waterproof, strong in colour and provide a very good range of colours you can check these out here

To complete the look I applied a little sparkle to the inner corners of my eyes with Barry m dazze dust No 27 it is a white shimmer and adds perfect finish to any look! The product if dabbed on creates very little mess and does stay put! So you dont have to worry about shimmer all over your face and clothes.

What I did notice about the vampy look is big wow lashes. Since I am yet to learn how to apply false lashes and can never get the hang of it I use moodstruck 3D fiber Plus mascara! This mascara is a cheat version to false lashes as they create the illusion of long lashes very well. Double the coat and they appear bigger! its a product you have to try to see for yourself just how amazing it is for when your in a rush, or simply just dont get on with false lashes!! ATT_1444856616849_IMAG0781

For the lips I used moodstruck precision lip liner in “pompous” Which is a burgundy/red wine shade and it glides on smoothly with no problems, it is a bit stubborn to rub off! But that works in your favour when your wearing it as it does not budge! not for anything! I covered most of my lip in the liner and then applied the lipstick Sleek Makeup true colour lipstick in Mulberry! This lipstick is very moisturizing it is almost wet when applied and once you blot it does leave a nice matte finish, it lasts a long time, I only had to re apply once. Very highly pigmented and perfect for vampy lips! I purchased this product from eBay best price £3.90 free shipping! I also purchased another shade “Cherry” which is also a very nice colour for fall trend.

To complete entire look I finished off the brows, by applying eye pencil and brow plumper to make them look fuller!

(Please excuse my night top! I did this late at night haha)
