Vampy Fall

Published October 15, 2015 by sarahsmith1988

I am in love with the vampy style this fall, but I must say with my complexion and face shape I can not pull this off so well. I did however dug through the internet for some inspiration and jiggled up a number of video tutorial’s for some inspiration to create my own idea. Ideally I would of loved to of created my skin tone more paler and maybe applying the bronzer on a little darker to make the cheeks stand out and provide a more sharper detail, however I did not have the correct foundation in order to do this. So I created the foundation by mixing two foundations together. To create a different effect and shade to what I normally apply. product collage

After creating the base of eye shadow I then applied the cream colour from the contouring kit to highlight under the eyes, forehead, chin, upper lip and nose and blended well with a blending bud. I use the blending bud as I love the effect it creates when finished. The product looks more natural and can achieve a more even consistency of the product without streaks patches. I tend to use a dabbing motion rather then rubbing it in, it appears lighter and less of a caked on feel. Once highlighted I take the bronzer (MUA makeup artiste palette) and apply on my cheek bones, under the chin and down the sides of my nose, blending again with the blending bud.

product collage 3For the eyes I applied the white from the palette W7 up in smoke palette. in my opinion these shadows are not very highly pigmented and they do not last all day, they do however look much better applied wet rather then dry, but again, does not last all day. Once I am happy with the white base I then applied stargazer “copper” into the creases and applied more till I created my desired effect and density of colour. I love stargazer shadows and must warn you to use a little as they are highly pigmented, they also stay put all day and dont bundge which is great! You can apply both wet and dry and the shadow stays put. If you apply wet though it really does stand out more in terms of sparkle and shimmer. I have never had a bad word said about stargazer products! They also do a lot of gothic style shades, so perfect for this Fall fashion trends you can find their website here www.stargazer-products.com

At the moment they have a fantastic range of Halloween products and ideas you must check out if Halloween is your thing!

I then applied moodstruck precision eye liner “perfect” across the eye line and then took the “Pristine” shade and applied it into the inner corners of my eye and lower corner of tear duct and blended gently! I love the moodstruck precision pencil range both eye and lip liners due to their long lasting wearing. They apply very easily and smoothly, they are also waterproof, strong in colour and provide a very good range of colours you can check these out here www.youniqueproducts.com/sarahsmith1988

To complete the look I applied a little sparkle to the inner corners of my eyes with Barry m dazze dust No 27 it is a white shimmer and adds perfect finish to any look! The product if dabbed on creates very little mess and does stay put! So you dont have to worry about shimmer all over your face and clothes.

What I did notice about the vampy look is big wow lashes. Since I am yet to learn how to apply false lashes and can never get the hang of it I use moodstruck 3D fiber Plus mascara! This mascara is a cheat version to false lashes as they create the illusion of long lashes very well. Double the coat and they appear bigger! its a product you have to try to see for yourself just how amazing it is for when your in a rush, or simply just dont get on with false lashes!! ATT_1444856616849_IMAG0781

For the lips I used moodstruck precision lip liner in “pompous” Which is a burgundy/red wine shade and it glides on smoothly with no problems, it is a bit stubborn to rub off! But that works in your favour when your wearing it as it does not budge! not for anything! I covered most of my lip in the liner and then applied the lipstick Sleek Makeup true colour lipstick in Mulberry! This lipstick is very moisturizing it is almost wet when applied and once you blot it does leave a nice matte finish, it lasts a long time, I only had to re apply once. Very highly pigmented and perfect for vampy lips! I purchased this product from eBay best price £3.90 free shipping! I also purchased another shade “Cherry” which is also a very nice colour for fall trend.

To complete entire look I finished off the brows, by applying eye pencil and brow plumper to make them look fuller!

(Please excuse my night top! I did this late at night haha)

I ordered a a few products over last weekend to try and test. I usually find products via cosmopolitan magazine and the suggestions on websites I have bought cosmetics from. Now they have arrived after a few days of waiting on their arrival. I was keen to get going and testing them out. IMAG0645

  • MUA The artiste collection
  • Barry M ultra moisturizing lip paint “black cherry”
  • Loreal Paris brow artist plumper

The first thing I did was decide on high lighting and contouring effect. I normally go more towards my natural skin tone making the high light and contour as natural as possible. But since I was experimenting with the fall 2015 trends I thought a paler skin tone would create a more “vampy” look paired with the Barry m moisturizing lip paint.

More paler highlight and contour

So I set to work searching for a highlight and contour video/tutorial that would help me achieve this look. Most of the video’s I found had a lot of products that I have not yet got, so I followed the tutorials as best as I could and kind of played with shades a little to create my own.

I then got to work on my eye shadow. I wanted to use as much colours from the MUA artiste collection as I could so I aimed for purples/blues blending them together as I went along to create different tones. At first glance of the product I saw it was great value for money (priced at £8.99 eBay) the shadows are decent sized and a mixture of good colours. The applicator that came with the palette is great quality and very smooth, this made applying the product very easy. Each shade was also blendable and manageable with very if none at all all product loss by falling on to the cheek. The colours are not highly pigmented (bold) However they are noticeable and with more time and patients you could add layers to create your desired effect.  The added bonus to the palette is it comes with two blushers and a bronzer to complete your look. The shadows themselves are matte, and very silky. They apply like a dream on the eyes.

How I did my eyeshadow was by using the shade “Pistachia” over the entire eye lid, secondly I applied the shade “Ice” in to the inner corners of my eyes and blended outwards.Once blended i then used the shade “Grape” above the eye lid and slightly blended outwards and into the middle of my eye lid. I also used a little of a darker shade of purple to dab on top and blend outwards to create different shades and definition. After applying all the purple shades I then used moodstruck mineral pigment “Corrupted” and using a liner brush, created a line across the crease of the eye lid and blended well with a shader brush. I then applied “Grape” again on the lower lash line.

For my lips I applied moodstruck precision lip pencil “Pompous” using lip liner makes the colour set nicely in place and preventing the lipstick from bleeding. Also it creates a more vibrant look and helps make the lip stick last longer. When I first opened the lip stick it looked very dark, like a very dark plum colour almost to a very dark burgundy. But when I applied it, it was more like a dark red shade. I must admit I was a little disappointed in the shade when applied as I was expecting it to be the colour it looks.  The lipstick applied easily, it was velvety and very moisturizing. However I can see it been a lipstick that would need applying a few times through the day. One sip from a coffee mug and there was a lot of product on the edge of the cup! Over all it is a very good lip colour as it does not dry out your lips nor irritate them. The lipstick is also reasonably priced (£4.45 eBay) IMAG0708

My favorite product is the Loreal brow artist plumper! I love this product because it does exactly as it states “For fuller looking brows” I love the applicator to (looks like a small mascara wand, but much softer) which helps separate my brow hairs easily when applying the product and achieves more fullness, the brow plumper is also available in 3 shades light medium and dark. It is also very easy to correct a mistake! Less mess less fuss!

Fall 2015 Beauty Trends

Published September 12, 2015 by sarahsmith1988

I have been on the look out for this years fall beauty trends, and I am loving it! I love dramatic looks and bold colours and if you do to, you will certainly love this years must have Fall looks!

The first thing I noticed on my adventure looking for beauty trends was the hype about dark lips. From the ripe berry to the plum black lips (aiming for the 90s trend) they are guaranteed to get you noticed in the spotlight. The moodstruck precision pencil lip liner “Pompous” works really well with the moodstruck opulence “Pretentious” lipstick, creating a lovely berry look To create a darker look the moodstruck precision pencil lip liner “Perky” and moodstruck opulence lipstick “Excessive” With a bit of blending and they will pair up nicely to create an ombre look.

The flushed cheeks is also a big hit for the fall, the aim is to create that fresh, healthy flushed cheeks look you get when you come back in from the cold outside. It is not applied dramatically, more of a subtle appearance to really make the face glow. Moodstruck minerals pressed blusher in “Sweet” gives the highlight you need for a subtle glow, the product goes along way so you only really need the smallest dab on the blusher brush.

For the eyes it seems that makeup artists have ditched the gold and silver and aimed for a bronze. The benefits of using bronze really does warm up the face and works well with the 90s lip colours! To add to the eyes, graphic liner is the perfect tweak to the classic cat eye by using a straight swipe of black liner, (moodstruck precision eye liner “Perfect” is great to use due to its creamy texture) this is a more modern way of wearing liner that elongates and lifts the eye, whilst also added some mystery to the face. Another look, is the easy smokey eyes, and it really is easy to recreate! Just by using black and brown eyeliner. Sometimes a dramatic eye can be intimidating, and is more suitable for occasions, rather then day to day life. So creating a diffused look by using only two products, tones down the eye for more appeal. For the eyebrows, it appears to be the block brow look is a distant memory making room for the more feathery image, this feathery look consists of lightly filled arches that are brushed up and wild but yet still groomed! Using quick and small stokes of a brow pencil to mimic hairs, brush the brows up at the start and outward as you move towards the tail. To complete the eyes, lashes are going big! Large defined lashes are a must have this fall. If you are in a hurry and want amazing definition and volume to the eye lashes, using 3D fiber Lashes plus works a dream to create those ideal lashes!
