Playing with colours!

Published November 29, 2015 by sarahsmith1988

Hiya all,

To some of you, you already know I have been away for quite some time due to maternity leave so to speak. I have been recovering from birth whilst also managing a newborn. Although I love my little bundle of joy there is one thing for sure I don’t miss and that is the sleep deprivation, the endless washing up and the new found scent of baby puke! But I ask myself would I change this? The answer is hell no! I secretly adore the late night feeds, the endless washing up and smelling of baby puke? Hmm Maybe not so much that side of things.

Another point I have to make is these days looking glamourous and makeup perfected to look like a supermodel are long gone, ok slight exaggeration there, as there will come a time when I can get back to spending hours in the bathroom.  So when and where I can I try my best to look my best.

Which brings me onto my makeup for the day.

I decided to add some colours, my mood in the morning was actually rather a good one. When I am in a good mood I love to add colours (A recent thing for me, as I was never the daring type and stuck to neutrals, but since i found experimenting with different styles rather enjoyable I stepped well out of my comfort zone, that’s what life is all about right? Stepping out of that zone) So here is what I did:

I first applied my foundation, starting off with a primer, then mixing together my favorite foundation and then my lightening serum. Once applied and blended well I then started with the eyes!

Step 1:

Applying the eye primer, so the shadow sits nicely on top and appears more bolder and vibrant I took a copper shade and applied it on the lids, blending out a little.

IMAG1088

Step 2:

Taking a purple shade I then applied this on the crease of the lid and blending it upwards to about half way.

Step 3:

Taking a green eyeshadow, (or eye pencil) I then applied the shadow along the lower lashline. (I did dampen the brush so the colour applied more bolder.

Step 4:

Taking an eye pencil I then applied lined the upper lash line with a bold line adding a flick. Finally finishing off with some barry m dazzle dust no.27 to create a shimmer just below the brow bone, finally taking a white pencil I drew I line on the water line.

To complete whole face I applied my favorite mascara and blush before applying pink lip liner and lipstick!

Sea Blue/green with Blue’s and Purples

Published October 25, 2015 by sarahsmith1988

I have not done much in terms of researching, try and testing different makeup products these days due to been 38 weeks pregnant and juggling my life around my already existing children! Boy, has this been a busy week. But yet very exciting I shall have my new arrival in my arms on the 5th November, what a truly magical day. Whilst the skies are lit with fireworks I shall be having my own little firework been brought into this world!

I some how managed to squeeze in the time to try out the sea blue/green with hints of blue and purple. This is not what the tutorial was called that I followed. The tutorial was based on using a colour wheel to find which colours would go well together and blend nicely. It was a very useful article to read.

Please excuse the heeadphones! I love listening to my music loud as I get ready in the morning, and this is the only way I can get away with it haha! Listening to great tunes, gets me ready and in the mood to take on the day!

sea blue step collage

Before I got started with the eye shadow, I applied my moisturizer, face primer, foundation and concealer and prepping my eyes with eyeshadow primer before setting to work with the colours.

I applied NYX white crayon “Milk” all over my eye lid and blended well up to about half way point of my eyebrow bone, also blending outward from the tear duct, this is so I can highlighting the inner corners of my eye. Help them stand out more! I then chose my three colours I was going to work with I chose a sea blue/green (similar to Turquoise) For the inner corners of my eye, carefully patting the eyeshadow brush along to about half way across the eye lid, also taking the colour along the lower lash line, starting from the tear duct slightly and blended a little with my finger by dabbing.

IMAG0891

Taking a blue (dark) I used a tiny amount and dabbed where the sea blue/green finished. only need a small amount as didnt want to much of the dark blue added. Again, using my finger I blended it in with the previous colour. Finally I used a purple which I took to the outer eyelid and right across the crease of my eye lid, blending above the crease line as I went before finally taking the purple below my lower lash line to meet up with the sea green/blue!

I finished off with a streak of gel eye liner and a subtle mascara! I could of gone further, by adding some glitter along the eye lid and using a more dramatic coating of mascara to create more of a party makeup do. But since as I did this in the morning I stuck with been a bit more subtle.

Feeling a little blue?

Published October 20, 2015 by sarahsmith1988

Ok, So I guess I am going a little crazy here and just going to head well out of my comfort zone and go for the most brightest, bold and vibrant colours out there! Let’s step well out of the comfort zone and start exploring the colourful side!

B Sweet Popping Candy Highlighting Serum

B Sweet Popping Candy Highlighting Serum

I typed into google “party eyeshadow tutorial” specifically as party make up is often wild and out of the ordinary. Usually often thrown in the mix is lots of glitter and sparkle! What more could a girl want?? Bring on the sparkle!

Any way. I thought about the colour blue. I am not a huge fan of blue eyeshadow, it takes a certain skin tone, eye colour, hair colour to pull it off. I an remember back when I was 14 and I used to apply blue eyeshadow all over my eye lid and up to my brow bone with lots of cheap clumpy mascara and thought I looked amazing! Boy, how much do I cringe thinking back to them times. I avoided all blue shades after looking back at the memory. *Shudder*

So today I am stepping massivly out of my comfort zone and going straight in with the blue.. However, this time a little more er, tamer!

IMAG0797

First thing first is I applied my usual foundation mixed in with B sweet popping candy highlighter. In my previous posts you will notice I mentioned this a few times this is a little tub of amazing pearly beads swamped in a mixture of clear gel once you press the pump the little pearl beads mix with the gel creating a lovely blob of sparkle! Mix it in with foundation and your face just glows like a brand spanking new face! Its amazing trust me! Best buy of the year for me. You can buy this from Superdrug (UK) priced at £14.99 however it is currently on offer for £7.49 so hurry! After applying this magic to my face and blending well I applied concealer under my eyes and blended using the blending bud. I sometimes add contouring and highlight but today I thought I would keep face products to a minimum, more due to the fact I was running out of time at this point and still had not applied my eyeshadow or filled my brows in!! IMAG0798

For my eyes I took a white pencil and coloured in the entire eye lid, blending well and a little over the crease to create a base. Taking a dark blue shadow (Mine was dark blue with shimmer) I thought using the shimmer rather then the matte would create more sparkle and wow! From the outer corner of the eye lid I applied the shadow to roughly about centre of my eye, and dabbed a little with finger to secure the shadow. Using the same eyeshadow I drew a line across my lower lash line and on the lash line. I did this to add intensity to the look. Finishing off with black eyeliner on the upper lash line, and a dab of barry m dazzle dust No.27 for the extra sparkle and then applying my favorite mascara! 3D fiber Lash Plus, never fails!

Two tone eye shadow? What are your thought’s?

Published October 2, 2015 by sarahsmith1988

I have never really been the one for two tone eye shadow’s. I saw one tutorial many moons ago with a pink and purple. it did look alright, but never really experimented with different colour’s. I recently came across a post that created a two tone eye shadow, so the thought of giving it another go spring into mind.

I think with two tone eye shadow it is important to choose colour’s that match your out fit well and occasion. Also drawing attention to the shadow its self. You ideally want colours that go well together and blend well. Depending on the look you are aiming to achieve subtle colours are also recommended.

I tried with pink and purples. I am currently in a pink, purple mood recently so seem to be experimenting with these two colour’s in different ways.

What I used: IMAG0617

  • stargazer “plush purple”
  • stargazer “funky fuchsia”
  • barry M dazzle dust No15
  • moodstruck precision pencil eye liner
  • 3D fiber lash mascara

The two tone shadow effect is one of the easy tutorials to follow, making it an ideal party look, using vibrant colours or even a subtle look using neutral shades such as browns or bronzes. I used dazzle dust to finish off for under the lower lash line and dabbed a small amount in the crease of the eye lid to create a nice shimmer effect. I also thought of adding glitter cream shadow along the lash line for a liner to create a party look.

Step 1:

I first applied “funky fuchsia” from the inner corner of my eye up to the middle of the eye lid

Step 2:

I then applied the next colour “Plush Purple” along the other half of the eye lid. Taking a shader brush I then blended the colours together in the middle slightly.

IMAG0618Step 3:

Finishing off the look I applied the eye liner “precision eye liner in perfect” to create a small flick, using a blending brush ever so slightly with small sweeps upward from the eye liner to tone down the definition a bit of the black. Depending on look you want to achieve you can go straight across the lash line, with a added flick or just a straight line. Try experimenting with different colours, shimmers or glitters.

I then applied mascara as normal

Purple Sparkle…

Published September 28, 2015 by sarahsmith1988

So in the post arrived my cream sparkly eye shadow palette’s I bought two palettes one in purple shades and another in grey/silver shades. I also came across some stargazer shadows which I always associated with gothic look or very strong neon colour’s that were not really suitable for every day wear. However I did come across some shimmer shadow they do with an amazing variety of colour’s to choose from.

So after a bit of debating with myself which to try first, I thought I would try out the purples and have a go at seeing what worked best for a look you could pull off day and night.

What I used:

  • IMAG0593 B sweet candy popping highlighting serum (New found love)
  • Bourjois Paris healthy foundation
  • NYX Royal Violets
  • Stargazer Plush Purple
  • Maybelline Wake me up concealer
  • 3D Fiber Plus Mascara
  • Moodstruck precision eye liner “perfect”

Step 1: I applied a layer of B sweet by first applying the product to a sponge applicator and applying evenly across my face making sure it is nicely blended with even coverage. Once I have achieved this I applied the concealer to specific areas that needed targeting such as redness and breakouts, using the tip of my finger I carefully blended in the concealer to create the even coverage. Once all look even I dampened a foundation brush and applied the foundation directly to my skin working in circle motions, again to make sure the product is finely blended.

Step 2: Using the precision pencil I drew a line from the outside corner of the eye and then drew a thin black line just beyond half way. I then thickened the corner of the eye and make a shadow effect in the corner. Taking the stargazer shadow I then applied the purple to my eye lid (I did dampen the applicator a little so I got a more vibrant look) Taking the NYX palette I then added the darkest shade of purple across the top of the stargazer shadow for the sparkle.IMAG0599

Step 3: To finish off I added eye liner to the lash line and underneath I used the lightest purple shade from the NYX palette to create a subtle liner below. Completed with 3D Fiber plus mascara!

My over all opinion of the NYX cream palette Royal violets is that they do make your eyes stand out more and do add the added sparkle effect which is great for an occasion you desire, however I did find them a little hard to apply as they did clump in places and took awhile to spread the product out evenly. but a bit of patients and you can create the desired look you want. I also found when removing the product it was a bit like removing sand, so I applied some moisturizer on my skin afterwards, especially the eye area. But they did the job nicely and not to bad if your on a budget.

IMAG0609

The stargazer shadow is another to be added onto my favorite list. I love how strogn the colour is and how nicely it was applied, they are also very blendable and manageable and you dont need a lot of the product either. So it is long lasting. I like how it leaves a subtle shimmer to the eye!

I purchased younique products and feel in love with them instantly. I never really had the interest to join as a representative as I was never really that busy. I didnt have a family to provide for, I attended college and did a few jobs here and there. It wasn’t till recently I found myself tied up in the children, the pregnancy and IMAG0329running a busy household, but I didn’t like the idea of not making an income. I pondered about for a few weeks to try devise a plan that would be suitable around my lifestyle and children. I just happened to come across a social media post looking for reps, so I jumped at the opportunity and got myself signed up. I now sell the products to friends/family and across the globe!! So here is my 6 top picks form Younique:

  • Addiction Palette 3
  • Divine daily moisturizer
  • Stiff upper lip, lip stain – Sultry
  • Touch mineral foundation – Scarlet
  • Touch mineral concealer – Fabulous
  • 3D fiber lashes mascara

First thing is first is the divine daily moisturizer! This is my must have skin care product for the morning, I also provide attention to the under eyes, so when I apply my concealer it covers dark circles better. The moisturizer sets to work fairly quick. Within a few days I noticed an improvement in my skins appearance.

Then apply the concealer, I use a soft bristle brush and dab the brush horizontally into the product and gently tap, I only use a small amount to start off with and if needed I will add a little more coverage. The product applies really nicely and smoothly, so there is often no need for a lot of coverage. Touch mineral concealer is great for covering uneven skin tone and patches of redness. wakeupmakeup

Touch mineral foundation applies well on top of the mineral concealer it makes a huge difference to the face, adding the extra benefit of making the face appear air brushed. Mineral foundation is perfect for acne skin, covers up well making them appear less visible.

The addiction palette is by far my favorite product! I love how colour rich the eye shadow is, it has a silky soft feel and applies nicely without any creasing. I noticed this products lasts all day without any budging and I have a just applied look all day long! The palette has a mixture of shimmer shadows, and matte colours. I love the fact that these colours are easily blendable and buildable. So you can have the look dramatic or subtle depending on occasion.

Stiff upper lip is a product I can not spread the love for enough! One coat is all it takes to get a bold strong colour that turns from a liquid to a perfect matte finish within seconds, the colour does stay on for a long time and can also be buildable. So you can heighten the colour intensity even more! There is a great range of colours in the lipstain collection.

Stiff Upper Lip

3D fiber lashes are fantastic, for a quick application to add intensity to the lashes they are also really easy to remove and hassle free. I love this product due to its simplicity, and it actually lives up to its name and promises.
